Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Dear Vive Family,

This year has been one full of exciting moments for Vive City Chapel. We recently celebrated our new church name with Relaunch Sunday, and as you can see, both the interior and now exterior of our facility are starting to reflect our new brand and vision for our church. We are certainly in a season of growth and change. And with change, we now find ourselves amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, which our Leadership Team is carefully monitoring. We desire to move forward together in faith and courage, especially in times of crisis, and we are taking the COVID-19 situation very seriously. Across the world, many families and individuals have been impacted by this virus. We know that healthcare professionals everywhere are working around the clock to stop it from spreading. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.

We know that God is undoubtedly more powerful than any virus, so we are praying for Him to continue to grant wisdom to the workers, healing to those who have been affected, and protection for any and all who come into contact with this virus. We also ask that God would calm the minds of all of those who are anxious and afraid.

At Vive City Chapel, we are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all of our guests and our dedicated team of volunteers. We are implementing some additional precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety of our Vive Family. Much of this is already a part of our routine, but we wanted to share with transparency, as well as make you aware of a few new protocols we will be implementing.

  • All chairs, pews, doorknobs/handles, and solid surfaces will be disinfected prior to and following Sunday service.

  • Additional hand sanitizers will be placed in the lobby for your use.

  • Our Hospitality Team/Greeters will hold doors open whenever possible to limit the number of people touching door handles. Greeters have been advised to wave and smile as guests enter, rather than shake hands and hug.

  • We will be implementing these same precautionary measures within ViveKids and ViveStudents as well—sanitizing shared surfaces, doorknobs, play areas, toys, etc., as well as placing extra hand sanitizer in each classroom.

  • We will continue to follow our standard health protocols, not admitting any child with an elevated temperature (above 99.6 F). A child must also be fever free for 24 hours before going to ViveKids/ViveStudents. You can help us by closely monitoring your children for any symptoms and being understanding if we feel we cannot accept your children into our programs due to health concerns.

  • Rather than passing around offering buckets, our ushers will hold them at the back of the auditorium after service for in-person giving. For online giving, visit

  • Refreshments will still be served after service, and as per usual, volunteers will be serving them with gloves and will be encouraging the children NOT to share.

What you can do to keep yourself and others safe and healthy:

  • If you or your child has cold or flu-like symptoms, we ask that you stay home. Don't worry, you won't miss a beat! All of our sermons are uploaded online and available on our podcast. You can tune in to the latest message on our website at

  • If you suspect others around you may be sick, avoid being in close proximity.

  • Be mindful of those around you. Cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow or use a tissue and then quickly dispose of the tissue.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and—more than usual—avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Teach your children to do the same. You can instruct them to sing the ABC song while washing, to make sure they are washing thoroughly.

  • When hand washing is not available, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer (CDC professionals are recommending that it contain at least 60% alcohol).

  • The CDC does not recommend that you stock up on and wear face masks unless you are sick. Healthcare professionals need access to these masks on a regular basis to treat patients, and we don't want to limit their supply as they are integral to their jobs.

  • If you have traveled to a country where COVID-19 outbreaks have been noted, please follow CDC guidelines.

  • For more information, please visit the Centers for Disease Control or the Florida Department of Health.

The Leadership Team will continue to stay updated and implement any additional practices as need be. We will also communicate any new standards and protocols to you accordingly.

Again, we would like to reiterate that this is not a time to be anxious or panic (Philippians 4:6). God's love and care for us has not changed (Malachi 3:6). He has always desired for us to trust Him wholeheartedly and lean into His wisdom (Proverbs 3:5-6). And that is exactly what we will do.

Let's all continue to pray for our community, our nation, and the world.

In Christ,

Vive City Chapel Leadership
